From 2nd October and 8th October 2024 we celebrated Wildlife Week in association with Sahyadri Sankalp Society Devrukh, Nisarg Sobati Ratnagiri and lensart Ratnagiri.
To Introduce the biodiversity of Western Ghats (Sahyadri) we organized various events in Ratnagiri District. The Wildlife week begins with Nature Trail in the Sacred Groves of Ratnagiri. After that we organized a Wildlife Photography Exhibition of more than 300 photographs includes various species of Animals, Birds, Reptiles, Insects, Flowers, Butterflies which are found in Ratnagiri District at S. K. Patil Hall of Athalye Sapre and Pitre College. In these 3 days exhibition more than 3,500 students from the 7 schools of Devrukh visited and understand the importance of biodiversity. The conclusion of this wildlife week done with online lecture on Wildlife Rescue taken by Dr. Nachiket Utpat (Director of Outreach and Strategic Initiatives) from RESQCT, Pune. Due to increasing urbanization, conflicts between animals and humans have become inevitable. So sometimes the animal’s life is in danger in that struggle. RESQCT does the important work of saving such wild animals and releasing them in their habitat.
Wildlife plays a very important role in the prosperity of every part of the world. Along with it plays an important role in environment, economy and culture. But, recently due to Climate Change, Deforestation, wildlife habitats are under threat. On the occasion of Wildlife Week all the citizens and future generations had taken oath to take responsibility to conserve the habitat.
