Vulture Conservation

Srushtidnyan is committed to work for species protection. The project titled, “Saving the White-rumped Vultures at Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary” was intended to focus on saving a scarce population of vultures found in forest of Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary. Srushtidnyan collaborated with the State Forest Department in the implementation of running the Vulture Restaurant. An awareness campaign was launched in the villages of the periphery of this forest to spread the message of not using veterinary drug Diclofenac that was detrimental to the health of vultures. With the implementation of awareness campaign, Vulture Festival was organized jointly involving local villagers, BNHS, Schools, Colleges, Wildlife Enthusiasts to announce the zero use of Diclofenac in veterinary treatment in the periphery villages of Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary. This project was supported by multiple organizations namely Oriental Bird Club, UK; Birdlife International and Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, UK; BNHS and Wildlife Wing of the State Forest Department.
