Conservation Education Programme for the Schools of Coastal Villages

Srushtidnyan organized Marine and Coastal Biodiversity of Konkan, Maharashtra Conservation Education Programme for the Schools of Coastal Villages Sponsored by The Vasant J Seth Memorial Foundation and Association with Naturalist Foundation. The project activities were conducted in eight villages and ten schools from 3 Talukas of Sindhudurga addressing around 900 children and teachers. The presentations covered a wide range of scientific information on the ocean and the marine and coastal life around the world and the offshore of the Sindhudurg coast. The visual presentation included video films on marine and coastal biodiversity. The school managements were also very happy receiving a set of field-guide books on marine life of Maharashtra and the mangroves of Maharashtra in Marathi language. Mr. Prashant Shinde from Srushtidnyan begin the activity with the explanatory video of earth’s evolution, differnet structures of sea, Pacific Ocean, Mariana Trench, St. Helena, Cultural and Traditional connection with sea with Powerpoint visuals. Mr. Sachin Rane from Naturalist Fundation gave beautiful visual journey and his experience about the different underwater species. After that the acivity colcluded with some short films and some magical and interesting game about marine biodiversity.
